Snorkeling - Information

 A favorite water activity among tourists and residents alike is Key West Snorkeling.  People of all ages enjoy this fantastic aerobic activity.  If you have never swam with the fishes before, welcome to their world.  The ecosystem under water is a stark contrast to that of its above ground counterpart. The under water oasis that snorkeling in Key West provides is a window to the past, a place filled with social domination and the color of survival.  You may be tempted to don that mask, snorkel, and fins quickly for that frantic race to see all that you can in an hour snorkeling trip on top of one of the glorious tropical reefs.  My suggestion is to slow down.  Any body can get the cliff notes version of the dynamic ocean by skimming the surface and viewing the larger species of wildlife.  But if you slow down and really look at just a small area of life, a brain coral head for instance you can really see how elaborate this ecosystem is.  From the tiniest of shrimp larvae that are being tediously guarded to the living coral head it self.  Every thing in the ocean is living and part of everything that shares the water.  Even the sandy unassuming bottom floor of the ocean consists interestingly enough of tiny bits of coral reef that wildlife like the Parrot Fish consume and then poop out for that wonderful cloud of sand.  Snorkeling trips can be made threw a travel agent, a concierge, or booked on your own via the internet or an OPC on Duval Street.  By doing the research and comparing prices and quality of the trip itself you are sure to be pleased with your well informed decision.  Most trips have you bring sunscreen, a blanket or towel, and snacks, though many boats will provide beverages and a little something.  The key is research.  You may find that snorkeling is the perfect jump off point for an obsession with the ocean that will undoubtedly lead to diving.  Getting your fins and snorkel wet is the first step to opening up your horizons to a fantastic part of the world.  This is very important since the Earth is over seventy percent water.  How can you say you’ve seen it all if you haven’t gone snorkeling?
