Key West History - Information
The word History scares most people and almost all adolescents. However something happens when you travel to a new destination. The history of the place you are visiting becomes interesting even entertaining as well as educational. An example of this is the History of Key West. You may think you’re visiting just for the partying atmosphere and tropical Caribbean breezes. That is until you visit the Mallory Square Sunset festival. Every evening the diverse Key West History literally plays itself out in a venue that is well received for people of all ages and personalities. You can’t help but wonder into the adjacent museums and book that Conch Tour Train Ride for the following morning. The History becomes part of the experience and creates the indisputable backdrop for a host of memories filed away into your vacation laden brain. Between the heavy Military History and the effects the Weather has had in the transformation of this rich and succulent island the knowledge acquired in the form of exciting activities and side trips, months could pass buy and sill something new could be discovered. They even have a spooky ghost history. Take a walking ghost tour around to the hundred year old buildings, some of which you could stay at, and prepare yourself for what some say will be the history that haunts you. On a less spooked note you can find out why the roads were named after such influential people like Flagler Ave. after the founder of the Overseas Railroad. The Mel Fisher Museum is especially interesting to most travelers. Since the Pirates of the Caribbean took the world by storm you would be hard pressed to a tourist who didn’t enjoy learning about the history of immense treasure and the prosperity and subsequent sorrow that followed the Fisher family. So next time your teenager rants and raves about how much they hate History you may want to book a Vacation Package to Key West and change a little history. The scope of the human past has naturally led scholars to divide that time into manageable pieces for study. There are a variety of ways in which the past can be divided, including chronologically, culturally, and topically. These three divisions are not mutually exclusive, and significant overlap is often present, as in "The Argentine Labor Movement in an Age of Transition, 1930–1945". It is possible for historians to concern themselves with both very specific and very general locations, times, and topics, although the trend has been toward specialization. For others history has become a "general" term meaning the study of "everything" that is known about the human past, but even this barrier is being challenged by new fields such as big history. Traditionally, history has been studied with some practical or theoretical aim, but now it is also studied simply out of intellectual curiosity.
